Certification by the American Board of Urology is a voluntary process completed by your physician to indicate that he or she has completed certain basic training requirements and demonstrated an adequate fund of knowledge and competence in the care of patients.
The board certification process requires that the individual
- Graduate from an accredited medical school
- Complete an accredited postgraduate clinical training program (residency)
- Successfully complete a day-long written Qualifying Examination
- Successfully complete a two-day oral Certifying Examination
- Exhibit clinical proficiency through an evaluation of the physican’s case log and peer review
